Talking Shop with Jaslene Gonzalez

It's a great day to be a New Yorker!!!!

Especially when you walk into a Murray Hill nail salon, and run into America's Next Top Model cycle eight winner Jaslene Gonzalez!!

We have to admit, we've met top models before, but Gonzalez was by far the sweetest! And the most beautiful!!

"I'm going to Asia tomorrow for two and a half months," she told Poison Ivy Saturday, adding that visiting international markets were a crucial step in making it as a supermodel.

Her dream campaigns - which include Versace and Dolce and Gabbana - don't seem too far out of reach.

In two years, Gonzalez has modeled for Armani Exchange, Lot29, Aubrey O'Day's line Heart on Her Sleeve, Custo Barcelona, as well as appeared in dozens of magazines like Us Weekly and In Touch Weekly. Gonzalez has also rocked four billboards in Times Square!!!

"The last two years have been a whirlwind," she told us.

"America's Next Top Model was a great experience, but I'm still competing with other supermodels here in New York," Gonzalez added.

It took a few moments for Gonzalez' nail tech to realize he was filing the nails of a world-reknowned supermodel. "You fashion model?" he asked, during our conversation.

The ever-modest Gonzalez smiled.

"I do model, yes."

Quote of the Day

"There's nothing funny about someone who's completely secure. Vulnerabilities and cracks in the armor are what's funny. And what's really funny is someone who's attempting to hold a shield up to those things and thinking that they're pulling it off.''
