Brooke Shields Learns She is Royalty on NBC's Who Do You Think You Are?

"Nothing in the world can prepare you for Brooke [Shields'] story," says Lisa Kudrow. "It's a fairytale."

The actress is talking about her forthcoming NBC show Who Do You Think You Are (premiering Friday at 8 p.m.) during a Q&A at the Apple store Soho Wednesdsay night. Kudrow serves as executive producer, along with Dan Bucatinsky, on the show that investigates the genealogy and family trees of some of the world's most famous celebrities - Brooke Shields, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Susan Sarandon, to name a few.

Utilizing information from relatives, top historians, and experts from sponsor company, Who Do You Think You Are discovered that Shields, who was always told she was Italian, is actually a descendant of King Louis XIV of France.

"My daughters already act like princesses," Shields joked, adding that she inherently was always drawn to French culture.

Spike Lee and Emmitt Smith, two other celebrities that the show investigates, both discovered slavery in their family tree.

"Smith was all about moving forward," said Kudrow, recalling the athlete say "I'm glad my heart is in the right place" when he found out.

"It doesn't change my day-to-day," Shields admits, of the knowledge she gained.

"But it's helped me understand where I come from and find a sense of compassion for the road that made someone the way they are."
