Melissa Etheridge Talks Crystal Bowersox at Intimate NYC Set

"This is a little tease," says Melissa Etheridge.

She's talking to the hundred-something fans at New York's PC Richard and Son Theater in Tribeca Thursday night - and she wants us to know that this 45-minute set is an isolated incident.

"The next time you see me I'll be playing for three hours, and your legs will be hurting," Etheridge says, before walking offstage.

Although short, Etheridge's set was surely sweet - with the rock veteran belting out a handful of cuts ("Fearless Love" and "The Wanting of You" from newest record Fearless Love,  classic "No Souvenirs," and a cover of Lorraine Ellison's "Stay With Me"). She also stopped for a moment to discuss one American Idol hopeful.

"I met Crystal [Bowersox] on Tuesday night," Etheridge told the crowd, who cheered wildly.

"She said she saw me at the Chicago Theater in '08 and I remember, that's when I signed her guitar."

Someone in the audience then shouted out the next logical question.

"Duet?"

"That would be fun," Etheridge said, pausing for a moment. "I would do that."
