Poison Ivy caught up with Alexandra Richards at the Cool Vs. Cruel Awards Ceremony at the Bowery Hotel Tuesday, to chat with the DJ about the anti-fur initiative sponsored by The Humane Society and The Art Institutes.
"When my sister and I were nine, we started a pretend society called the Animal Protection Society," Richards said, of her long-time loyalty to animal rights.
"I grew up in the country so I saw a lot of dead deer," Richards added.
"APS was saving rodents off the street in Connecticut."
Also championing animal rights at the party were Devendra Banhart, Ally Hilfiger, Cory Kennedy, DJs matt+maia, Charlotte Ronson, Ann Dexter Jones and Fabrizio Moretti.
Miami International University of Art & Design student Valeria Krasavina scooped up the grand prize, and British designers John and Victoria Bartlett earned the "Compassion in Fashion" award for their contributions to the anti-fur movement.
