Adam Lambert Tapped to Mentor on American Idol

American Idol alum Adam Lambert has been tapped to mentor season nine hopefuls during the April 13 episode of American Idol, a rep at 19 Entertainment has confirmed.

The rocker will also be performing current single "Whattaya Want From Me" during the April 14 episode.

We think it's interesting that Lambert will be mentoring the contestants - not season eight winner Kris Allen - but we're not sure Lambert has the experience (only one year in the spotlight!) to pull it off.

Oh well. Can't be worse than Miley!

Lady Gaga, Green Day, Soundgarden to Headline Lollapalooza

We couldn't be happier with the lineup for this year's Lollapalooza, taking place August 6-8 at Chicago's Grant Park.

On the roster? Lady Gaga, Green Day, Soundgarden, Phoenix, MGMT, The Strokes, AFI, The New Pornographers, Social Distortion, Blues Traveler, Semi Precious Weapons, The Arcade Fire, Erykah Badu, Spoon and the Black Keys!

But the list doesn't stop there. Lollapalooza will feature over 130 bands!

"Lady Gaga represents to me the music industry today," says Palooza organizer Perry Farrell. "If you look at the Grammys, it looked like everybody was trying to catch up to Lady Gaga... We just see the vision of Lady Gaga in Chicago in Grant Park surrounded by all those beautiful buildings — we all just thought that it would be an epic performance."

Agreed!

Coheed and Cambria Preview Year of the Black Rainbow Tracks at Brooklyn Show

With just over a week before the release of their new record Year of the Black Rainbow, prog rockers Coheed and Cambria visited a handful of intimate venues - including Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg Wednesday night - to preview new material for fans.

"We wanted to celebrate the old, bring in the new with this Northeast stretch," singer Claudio Sanchez told the 500-something people in the audience, treating them to YOTBR tracks like "The Broken," "Far," "World of Lines," and recent single "Here We Are Juggernaut."

CoCa also ventured into their extensive past at the gig, playing fan favorites "A Favor House Atlantic," "Time Consumer," and an encore of "Welcome Home."

The band's next move is headlining a 30-date U.S. theatre tour with Circa Survive and Torche - so it was nice to see them perform in a quieter atmosphere!

Poison Ivy also had the privilege of hanging out with CoCa pre-show, where we witnessed a vocal warm-up that included the "Ra Ra Ah Ah Ah" intro to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance"!

"When Claudio and I heard the first line, 'I want your ugly/I want your disease,' we knew it was going to be an awesome song," says a friend close to the band.

Sanchez laughed when we asked if Coheed would ever think of covering "Bad Romance" (Coachella, anyone?) - but he later inquired about Hayley Williams' rendition of the jam, making us think he's considering!

Could be amazing!

In the meantime, check out Coheed's performance of "Far" at Music Hall of Williamsburg Wednesday, below, along with snapshots of the night, above.

Lil Wayne Launches Website from Prison

Lil Wayne has launched a website from prison titled Weezy Thanx You, in which he will communicate with fans during his year-long sentence.

"I want my fans to know I love you,” the rapper wrote in his first post Friday, entitled "Gone Til November."

"I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the mail I get, and this is my way of saying thank you."

The rapper also plans to update fans on his progress in his letters, noting that he will continue blogging for ESPN.com during the sentence, and has been spending his time working out and reading the bible.

"I read the Bible everyday," Weezy writes. "Jail didn’t make me find God, He’s always been there."

The rapper was sentenced to a year in prison following a weapons charge back in 2007. There are currently 213 days until Lil Wayne will be free.
