New Blondie Record Slated for November
Blondie drummer Clem Burke has confirmed that the band will release a new record, Panic of Girls, in November.
This marks Blondie's first record in seven years, but U.S. fans probably won't see it until 2011, as the disc will be released in Australia first to coincide with the band's fall touring jaunt with The Pretenders.
"There's a lot of politics involved," Burke laughed.
Panic was recorded last fall in Woodstock, NY, where the band was "living in the country out there, kind of the antithesis of the urbanite kind of atmosphere that exists around Blondie," Burke explained.
"Everyone in the band contributed songs," Burke said, noting that frontlady Deborah Harry wrote most of the lyrics.

Chelsea Handler to Host MTV VMAs
Funny lady Chelsea Handler will host the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Sept. 12 in L.A., marking the third time a woman has hosted the show in its history.
"If there's one awards show that I should be hosting, it's probably this one," Handler said.
"My personality probably wouldn’t gell with the Emmys or the Golden Globes."
Handler confirmed she would be airing a week of music-award-themed-episodes on her show Chelsea Lately leading up to the VMAS, which will see Justin Bieber, Drake, and Kanye West perform.
"Thank You to everyone for ur excitement about the vmas," Handler Tweeted Thursday.
"And 2 those of u who hate me, Thank you 2. I'd be a real loser if everyone liked me."

Lady Gaga on New Album: "It's Utter Liberation"
Lady Gaga recently sat down with i-D magazine to chat about her new album, which she is calling "utter liberation."
"The new album is my absolute greatest work I've ever done, and I'm so excited about it," Gaga said.
"The message, the melodies, the direction, the meaning, what it will mean to my fans and what it will mean to me in my own life — it's utter liberation. I'm on the quest to create the anthem for my generation for the next decade, so that's what I've done."
The ever-elusive Gaga will not, however, reveal which producers she is working with or if there are any collaborations in store.
"At this moment, I don't want to feature anyone; I just want to stand on my own two feet," she said.
"I do have these hopes that it could be a great rock crossover record, so I'm going to put my producer's hat on and get it to a place where I feel like it could reach the masses."
"It's a beautiful, beautiful lyric and melody. I wrote it at the piano I grew up playing in New York," Gaga concluded.
