Instruments Stolen? There's an App For That

Only in New York, kids.

Alt rockers Atomic Tom had their instruments hijacked earlier this month, but the Brooklyn foursome didn't let it get to them.

The boys hit the B train this week - cell phones in tow - for an iPhone-filmed, iPhone-soundtracked performance of "Take Me Out."

Who needs instruments anymore?

There's an app for that!

Prince Announces December Concert Series

Prince has announced a concert series that will begin "on a purple day in December 2010," The Artist said during a brief press conference at the Apollo Theater Thursday night.

The singer will serve as master of ceremonies for a slew of performers, including Maceo Parker, Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Cassandra Wilson, Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E., and Grand Central Station.

The singer took the stage for less than four minutes in a pair of aviators and gold-sequined jacket Thursday, and while he didn't provide information on where the shows will be held or what purple day in December we could expect to see them - he did give concert-goers one unexpected hilarious piece of advice.

"You need to come early, you need to come often, because every time we play, it's something new. No concert is ever the same. I gotta lot of hits. Bring your friends, bring your children, and bring footspray, because it's gonna be funky."

Check out a full transcript of Prince's speech below, which was bookended by BET Executive Vice President of Entertainment & Music Programing Stephen Hill and Waiting for Superman educator Geoffrey Canada.

"Welcome. Welcome to America.

We're here today... to announce a series of events that will begin on a purple day in December 2010. Welcome to America is best described as what we've all been waiting for. I will serve as master of ceremonies for multiple nights of entertainment that will feature some of the best artists this country has to artist... a list which includes but is not limited to the legendary Maceo Parker, my favorite new artists Janelle Monae, from Minneapolis, Mint Condition, the new face of jazz and classical music Esperanza Spalding, and one who's been around for awhile but sitll continues to haunt me to this day: Cassandra Wilson.

Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E., Grand Central Station are just some of the names who have agreed to showcase their talents.

Without giving too much away, anyone that's ever been to one of our concerts... knows... they know what time it is. So you need to come early, you need to come often, because everytime we play, it's something new. No concert is ever the same. I gotta lot of hits, bring your friends, bring your children, and bring footspray, because it's gonna be funky."

Confirmed: Emma Stone and Kieran Culkin

Poison Ivy can officially confirm that Easy A actress Emma Stone is dating Scott Pilgrim vs. the World star (and Macaulay's brother) Kieran Culkin!

We spotted the pair holding hands and strolling in New York's NoHo neighborhood Friday morning - check out our video above - before they popped into Think Coffee.

Unsurprisingly, Stone did most of the talking.

Stone and Culkin met while filming 2009's Paper Man - and have reportedly been inseparable since.

Jerry Seinfeld and Colin Quinn's 'Long Story Short' Poised for Broadway

We're just one week away from the debut of Colin Quinn and director Jerry Seinfeld's one-man show Long Story Short - and the comedians are opening up about their stage experience, why Seinfeld was reluctant to play director, and the show's shockingly short 75-minute running time.

"[We] wanted to sell the idea of, we’re going to get you out of here," Seinfeld told reporters Tuesday during a press conference at the Snapple Theater Center in New York.

"We know that when most people go to a show, their first thought is, 'when am I getting out of here?'"

Seinfeld noted to reporters that he "didn't particularly want to direct" the show, "but we realized if I don't direct, we're going to have to meet a third person."

"We’re a little ornery when it comes to other people coming in," Quinn added.

Quinn also admitted he was surprised that Seinfeld was so engaging in show's direction, and asked where his stage experience had come from.

"I did a sitcom in the '90s," Seinfeld replied.

Nicole Scherzinger, RedOne Deliver 'Poison'

Nicole Scherzinger's got Poison on her mind!

Can you blame her?!

The Pussycat Doll teamed up with producer RedOne (Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning") for her new song "Poison," and it kind of turned out like a mashup between the two!

Check out her new track, above.

Ramona Singer Creating Signature Pinot

It was only a matter of time!

Real Housewife of New York City Ramona Singer will be manufacturing an eponymous line of Pinot Grigio, the cleverly titled Ramona Singer Pinot Grigio.

The housewife and polyamorous entrepreneur has sipped on Pinot Grigio in almost every episode of the show's three-season history, so we really aren't too shell-shocked here!

Singer's Pinot will hit shelves in January 2011 and be sold at (a reasonable) $14.99. Opici will serve as the distributor.

Pepper's 'Like a Surgeon' Tour Cuts Through NYC

We've always been huge fans of Pepper.

This is saying a lot, because we pretty much avoid jam bands like they avoid melodies!

So when we found out the Hawaii natives were coming to NYC on the "Like a Surgeon" tour, we were slightly horrified - but mostly excited.

The boys hit the stage at New York's Highline Ballroom Tuesday night for nearly two hours, performing jams like "Your Face" and "Wake Up" - in between shots of Jager.

The show started out with the band wearing scrubs and surgical masks - and ended with frontmen Bret Bollinger and Kaleo Wassman shirtless (this is a Pepper show after all).

But we weren't complaining!

13 years later, and this pair still have washboard abs!

Check out their performance of our favorite Pepper song, "Give It Up (Dirty Hot Sex)," above.

No judging k thanks.

Mike Posner Surprises Guests at Sony Internet TV Launch

Sony Electronics rented out the fabulous Espace Tuesday night for a champagne reception to introduce to the world their newest baby: the Sony Internet (Google-Powered) TV.

We were pretty impressed with the guy - its most obvious asset being that you can surf the web (i.e. order groceries) without having to miss a minute of C-SPAN Bored to Death.

In attendance were Bravo mogul Andy Cohen, Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel, DJ Clinton Sparks, actress Katrina Bowden, Twilight's Chaske Spencer, singer Kat DeLuna and the very sweet Adrienne Bailon!

But perhaps the coolest part of the night was when Sony recording artist Mike Posner jumped onstage for a surprise 30-minute set that included tracks "Bow Chicka Wow Wow," "Cooler Than Me," and "Gone in September."

"This song is supersex," Posner bantered, introducing the player ballad "September" to the audience.

Check out footage of Posner performing new single "Please Don't Go," above.

Photos: Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Courtney Love at Conviction After-Party

It's a great night to be a New Yorker!

(From top): Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Courtney Love, Daniel Benedict, Beth Stern, Sam Rockwell, Richard Belzer and Tony (MF!) Bennett all trekked it to the Soho Grand Hotel late Tuesday to celebrate at the after-party for Swank, Rockwell, Minnie Driver and Juliette Lewis' new film Conviction.

Conviction is the true story of "a working mother (Swank) who puts herself through law school in an effort to represent her brother, who has been wrongfully convicted of murder and has exhausted his chances to appeal his conviction through public defenders."

Can't wait!

Quote of the Day

"I never mind when somebody underestimates me... I joke about this with my father all the time. If somebody has a meeting with Donald Trump, they will come in fully armed and fully prepared, whereas if they have a meeting with me, they are less likely to be prepared, which is an advantage for me. It is always better to know more than the person you are speaking with."

New York Comic Con Storms Javits Center

We had to wait patiently for eight months, but we finally attended our first Comic Con!

Poison Ivy dropped by day three of New York Comic Con 2010 at NYC's Javits Center Sunday and got to meet the minds behind some of our favorite comic book brands: Archie Comics, DC Comics, Evil Ink Comics, Marvel Comics, and more!

We also awkwardly posed with maniacal supervillains, picked up some Coheed and Cambria swag at the Evil Ink booth, and put together the above video of our favorite costumes of the day - soundtracked to (what else?) The Ramones "Spider-Man!"

Check out the fun, above.
