Shorty Awards honor Conan O'Brien, Neil Patrick Harris

The Shorty Awards, also known as the "Oscars of Twitter," invaded the Times Center Monday night to award social media's biggest influencers and users.

Hosted by the hilarious Aasif Mandvi of The Daily Show ("I'm only [hosting] this to get more Twitter followers," he chimed periodically throughout the night), the ceremony featured many notable guests, including comedian Jim Gaffigan, presenter Kiefer Sutherland, Foursquare founder Dennis Crowley and musician Amanda Palmer, who performed a song composed entirely of celebrity Tweets to the tune of Rebecca Black's "Friday."

"I specifically ordered persian rugs with cherub imagery!!!" she sang, with a photo of Kanye West projected behind her.

"What do I have to do to get a simple persian rug with cherub imagery uuuuugh."

Among the honored were Conan O'Brien with a Lifetime Achievement Award (his video acceptance speech included reading excerpts from The Power Broker, above), Attack of the Show and Sesame Street for Best Television (presented by Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller), Newark Mayor Cory Booker for Government, West Wing Report for Best Journalist, and Neil Patrick Harris for Best Actor using Social Media.

"Wow! I won. I don't know where to begin," NPH said in a video message.

"Do I thank a long list of names? No. I will speak from the heart I want to say I am deeply app--." the actor said, cutting himself off to stay within the 140-character limit.

Congrats all!
